I have worked with clay since the beginning of my career as an artisan. Initially, I worked exclusively on the potter’s wheel. For some years now, I have been using plaster moulds to reproduce my boxes.

Until the 19th century, boxes were richly decorated luxury objects given as gifts. They were used to store precious goods: sugar, confectionery, tobacco and, in particular, jewellery. Boxes were made from a wide variety of materials, such as alabaster, precious metals or porcelain, while simpler boxes were made from tinplate.

My ceramic boxes are cast and fired in an electric kiln. To decorate their surfaces, I use ceramic transfers fired onto transparent glazes, or single-colour glazes. Various materials, including metal, plastic and glass, are combined in different ways to form the knobs on the lids. This gives the boxes their distinctive charm.

My latest boxes combine different materials. Their bodies are made from cherry or walnut wood by an Italian woodturner in South Tyrol. Old glass objects found in the glass factory serve as lids. These handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces owe their charm to reused materials. Each box bears traces of time, further contributing to its unique character.
